PRAISE
Author: Adrian Savaren
Praise is one of the most privileged things we as Christians can do, and it comes along with a promise.
The dictionary states that it is – the act of expressing approval or admiration: commendation: laudation as in the offering of grateful homage in words or song, as an act of worship – a hymn of praise to God
Also: The state of being approved or admired: the king lived in praise for many years
To express approval or admiration of: commend; extol
To offer grateful homage to God or a deity as in words or song
Sing someone’s praises, to praise someone publicly and enthusiastically
When we begin to praise we realize WHO God IS…and what we are not.
In I Chronicles 29:13-16
Now therefore, our God, we thank thee, and praise thy glorious name.
But who am I, and what is my people, that we should be able to offer so willingly after this sort? (Here we see the realization of who God is and what we are not)
for all things come of thee, and of thine own have we given thee.
In the Old Testament they offered up their first fruits from what they grew, and their flocks, but we are to offer the first fruits of our mouth.
WOULDN’T IT BE SOMETHING IF WE COULD OFFER PRAISE TO GOD BEFORE WE START OUR DAY AND BEFORE WE TALK TO ANYONE!
In verse 15. For we are strangers before thee, and sojourners, as were all our fathers: our days on the earth are as a shadow, and there is none abiding.
O Lord our God, all this store that we have prepared to build thee an house for thine holy name cometh of thine hand, and is all thine own
(The house or church building, the praise banners, the praise bands and instruments are made by our hands, but HE is the one that supplied everything, and it all comes from HIM! Does that make sense?) (We are only giving back to HIM what HE has already given to us)
WHY DO WE PRAISE OUR GOD?
The Bible offers hundreds of reasons for praising God, but here is a few:
EPESHIANS 1:6, 7 To the praise of the glory of his grace, wherein he hath made us accepted in the beloved.
In whom we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of his grace;
HEBREWS 13:15,16 By him therefore let us offer the sacrifice of praise to God continually, that is, the fruit of our lips giving thanks to his name.
But to do good and to communicate forget not: for with such sacrifices God is well pleased.
I PETER 2:9. But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light;
REV. 19:5-7 And a voice came out of the throne, saying, Praise our God, all ye his servants, and ye that fear him, both small and great.
And I heard as it were the voice of a great multitude, and as the voice of many waters, and as the voice of mighty thunderings, saying, Alleluia: for the Lord God omnipotent reigneth.
Let us be glad and rejoice, and give honour to him: for the marriage of the Lamb is come, and his wife hath made herself ready.
Exodus 15: 18-20 The Lord shall reign for ever and ever.
For the horse of Pharaoh went in with his chariots and with his horsemen into the sea, and the Lord brought again the waters of the sea upon them; but the children of Israel went on dry land in the midst of the sea.
And Miriam the prophetess, the sister of Aaron, took a timbrel in her hand; and all the women went out after her with timbrels and with dances.
We praise the Lord………….because HE IS WORTHY!
When I looked up “worthy”, it said “credible”…..believable and trustworthy.
God did what He said He would do, and He is who He says He is….
HE IS THE BEGINNING AND THE END
HIS WORD IS TRUTH
HIS PROPHECIES HAVE COME TO PASS
Only when we read His Holy Word can we understand the greatness of His power, His faithful promises and the revelation of those promises, and why He is worthy to receive all Glory and Honor and Blessings, out of our lips, FOREVER!
I love to praise the Lord! And one thing for sure………….you have to OPEN your MOUTH to do it!
In PSALM 35:28. it states,…..And my tongue shall speak of thy righteousness and of thy praise all the day long.
And in PSALM 40:3. And He hath put a new song in my mouth, even praise unto our God: many shall see it, and fear, and shall trust in the Lord.
In PSALM 51:15-17 O Lord, open thou my lips; and my mouth shall shew forth thy praise. For thou desirest not sacrifice; else would I give it: thou delightest not in burnt offering.
The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit: a broken and a contrite heart, O God, thou wilt not despise.
DID YOU KNOW THAT PRAISE IS FOR THE RIGHTEOUS?
In Psalm 33: 1. it states, Rejoice in the Lord, O ye righteous: for praise is comely for the upright.
(It belongs to the righteous and it is the right thing to do.)
Psalms 34 1. I Will bless the Lord at all times: his praise shall continually be in my mouth.
Remember, as Christians it is a PRIVILEGE to PRAISE our God, and God says that He INHABITS the praises of his people. How absolutely INCREDIBLE………that the GOD OF GLORY inhabits our praises. He is right here with us!….He is present in our praises!
If you are a part of the family of God, praise Him today. He is worthy! He is God!

Praise by Godshappylamb on 12/17/2007, 11:12 AM Praise is one of the best ways to receive some of the love God has for you. When you give love to Him he returns it back to you ten times over. No matter if you are praising Him because you are sad or happy, the love that is exchanged is like being lifted high into the clouds. Like Gods hand has picked you up and taken you to sit with him for a time. there is nothing on this earth like praiseing our Lord. |
