LEAVING BEULAH LAND BEHIND

Brother, mother, father, daughter, and grandson too,

Many of those I hold most dear -- those I most revere,

Have already crossed, to where eyes cannot view.

Have already passed, through life’s final frontier.

So I moved in my mind, to that Beulah Land shore

And longed for the day, when my chariot draws near.

I’ll sail from this land, of trials and troubles galore,

Fleeing sadness and sorrows, that shroud o’re this sphere.

But, when silence abounded both tranquil and still,

A voice from my Lord said, “Your life’s work is not through!”

So with tears in my eyes I asked, “What is your will?

“What is it Lord Jesus, that you want me to do?”

“There’s one in your fam’ly, who has wandered astray,

“And others I long for, who know not salvation.

“I need you to meet them, and to show them the way,

“Befriend them and love them, without hesitation.”

“Jesus, I love you. Surely, you know that I do.

“I long to be with you, and with those I have lost.

“Is there not another, you can give this task to?

“I am old and I’m missing, the ones who have crossed.”

He said, “There’s a reason that you cannot foresee,

“And your longing for heaven, I’m well aware of.

“I’m asking and trusting, you’ll abide My decree

“Child for eternity, you’ll be, with those you love.”

So I’m leaving the shore of my Beulah Land home,

Committed to doing the task I’ve been given.

As long as He wishes, on this earth I will roam,

Giving hope to the ones, for whom Christ has striven.
